Cornwall Engagements, Wedding Proposals and Couple Photos

More and more couples are choosing to have photographs before the wedding day itself. It can prepare you for all the attention of the big day, and of the camera which will be following you throughout but mainly because it’s just so much fun and a lovely memory to keep.

Cornwall is such a beautiful place to get married so it makes sense to also get engaged here and pop the question. I absolutely LOVE being part of a surprise proposals, the secret messages of this is just so exciting and working out where I’m going to be as not to make it so obvious….awww I love it!!! I’m getting all teary just writing this let alone being there…lol

Let’s get down to it

Your day is still a long way off but there is still so much to do and organise. Meeting up with me for an hour will tick one more thing off your list, the worry of “will my photographer turn up”, “will I know how to pose”, “will I feel awkward” will all disappear after this session. We will work together to get to know each other, you’ll get to know me and how easy going I am. We’ll know your likes and dislikes and I guarantee you’ll be laughing and joking minutes in to the session, mainly when i’m climbing through trees, or lying in puddles.

More than just a selfie

We have all had photographs taken of ourselves, some of us love it and some of us hate it, we can take an amazing selfie (after the 100th time) but point a camera at our face and it’s hide behind a hand, turn the head or pull the weirdest of smiles…lol and that’s just what I do

This is where I come in and why it’s the most important reason to have an engagement shoot. The chances are you haven’t had many opportunities with your partner to pose romantically. We will learn what works for you and what doesn’t. You will laugh when I tell you how many couples look at each other and say “how do we cuddle” when i ask them to give each other a hug, or the hysterical laughs when I ask to look at each other, this will be you I guarantee it…lol

Life is lived at such a busy pace and even the big day itself will fly by, you’ll be dragged from Auntie to Uncle, to Cousin and nan, hardly getting a minute together, so this engagement shoot really is about taking time just for the two of you.

Many of my couples have children and dogs, if you would like to bring them along for part of the session then that’s absolutely fine, they are a huge part of your life but as I have emphasised above, this session really is about the two of you and having that one hour of quality time. Why not even tag a pub lunch or a cream tea on the end of the session

Where shall we go?

Location is entirely up to you, is there a place that you go as a couple, somewhere that reminds you of a happy time, where you got engaged maybe. I tend to take my couples to national trust gardens, woods and obviously here in Cornwall to the coast. I love autumnal colours, wrapping up warm and feeling all snug whilst it’s bitterly crisp in the air

Or towards the end of Summer maybe, the gardens are still flourishing, and into the evening you get that lovely golden tone throughout the sky.

What to wear:

For some this is a time to get dressed up, spend some time on hair and makeup and really feel a bit special. For me this is a time to relax and have some fun and be comfortable, though turning up in your best pj’s might not be the look we are going for, though saying that, a nice chilled morning in a hotel room or living room could work well in this attire and be quite a fun photo session.

My only recommendation would be to keep your clothing plain, no big logo’s or sport shirts. Remember feel comfortable and enjoy, smart casual always works well

Just remember this is all just relaxed and fun and at the end you’ll come away with some of the most beautiful and relaxed images to keep and maybe send out for Save the Date cards, Wedding Invites or you’ll opt for my Signing Guest book which is full of photographs from this session.
